TEMPORARY RESIDENCE SERVICES

VISITOR VISA

Visitor visa (temporary resident visa) is a document that you can apply for to come to Canada for a vacation, family visit or a short business trip. Visitors are restricted in length of stay and subject to various conditions. You must show the officer that you meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations and that you will be in Canada for a temporary stay
You may need a visitor visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization. The entry document you need depends on:

• The type of travel document you plan to travel with
• The country that issued your travel document
• your nationality
• Your method of travel to Canada for this trip
You must meet some basic requirements to get a visitor visa. You must:
• Have a valid travel document, like a passport
• be in good health
• Have no criminal or immigration-related convictions
• Convince an immigration officer that you have ties—such as a job, home, financial assets or family—that will take you back to your home country
• convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit
• Have enough money for your stay
The amount of money you will need depends on how long you will stay and if you will stay in a hotel, or with friends or relatives.
• You may also need a medical exam and letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada.

The refusal rate for temporary resident visa applications has increased in the last few years. Some of these applications have been refused due to the mistakes that are made by the applicants. Therefore, it is critical to make an accurate application.

You can come to Canada to study if you:
- Are enrolled at a designated learning institution (DLI)
- Prove you have enough money to pay for your tuition fees

POST GRADUATION WORK PERMIT (PGWP)

The Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP) allows students who have graduated from eligible Canadian designated learning institutions (DLIs) to obtain an open work permit to gain valuable Canadian work experience.

Skilled Canadian work experience in National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill type 0 or skill level A or B that is gained through the PGWPP helps graduates qualify for permanent residence in Canada through the Canadian experience class within Express Entry.

Not every program in designated learning institutions has eligibility for post-graduation work permit.

FOREIGN WORKER PROGRAM (LMIA REQUIRED)

The Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) allows employers to hire foreign workers to fill temporary labour and skill shortages.

Canadian employers wishing to hire a foreign worker in Canada must first obtain authorization from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), otherwise known as a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). Canadian employers must demonstrate that employing a foreign worker will not have a negative impact on the Canadian labour market in most cases, and that there is currently no Canadian citizen or permanent resident available to fill the position. This is typically accomplished by advertising the position on several venues, thus demonstrating there was no suitable Canadian for the job.

A LMIA is a very rigorous and comprehensive process that is subject to a high level of scrutiny from the government, and thus must be completed without errors.
